Thankful Thursday!

This morning after daily devotions we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast together, we hopped on the bus and started our last workday at the job site. We mixed and poured concrete until approximately 11:45 A.M and then had a group prayer/blessing over the lighthouse staff and the building foundation. We said our final goodbyes and headed back to the compound, although it was disappointing that we had to leave, we were overjoyed with the work we were able to do there this week.

After a very delicious lunch, we spent the afternoon hanging out with the children of Los Alcarrizos. We enjoyed playing basketball, doing parachute games, and crafts with the kids. They were reluctant to leave, and we could tell they enjoyed our company as we enjoyed there’s. Many of the children were the same ones from the day before, so we believe they enjoyed spending time with us and wanted to come back!

After dinner we had debrief discussion where we shared highlights of the trip and came up with ideas on how to carry through God’s mission post trip. Signs of a storm were very evident as massive booms of thunder that made you jump (even if you knew they were coming) and lightning that made it seem like it was day for a split second came about.

We went into quiet spaces to reflect alone when some of us started to notice the weather outside. There was flooding and garbage all throughout the town, people were trying to get home as the streets filled up with cars, garbage, and a ton of water. This made us reflect on more of the challenges of people living in poverty in this part of the world. With all the garbage on the roads and the rain washing/moving it everywhere, this creates some really dangerous situations for people. We saw children playing in the water, that was filled with unknown garbage and bacteria… It was awful to see, but another reminder of how we can be praying for the people here.

Please join us in praying for the community.
