Site Director – Shelburne | Regional Ministry Coordinator

40 hours per week

The Shelburne Site Director/Regional Ministry Coordinator will give pastoral and organizational leadership to our vibrant Compass site in the growing community of Shelburne, as well as providing oversight to our regional ministries and outreach to our surrounding area. This high-impact leader will be a part of our dynamic staff team and report to the Director of Sites and Services. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, takes initiative, is caring, flexible, strategic and trustworthy. This is currently a 40-hour per week position with openness to on-site and remote work.

  • Champion for the Shelburne site.

  • Responsible for ensuring that preaching/teaching during the Sunday gatherings at the Shelburne site is delivered.

  • Identify, recruit, and develop key ministry leaders for site teams and initiatives.

  • Coach, plan, execute, and oversee ministry initiatives that provide opportunities for individuals, ministry groups and the surrounding community to connect, thrive and commit.

  • Engagement and leadership in community events, festivals, and initiatives in Shelburne and surrounding area.

  • Responsible for oversight in areas of pastoral care, discipleship and evangelism in Shelburne, including but not limited to weddings, funerals, baptisms, child dedications, group life and outreach events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with site ministry teams to oversee congregational life, discipleship and ensure a culture of welcome and care within the site. 

  • Staff support for current Compass regional ministry teams such as Compass Run for Food, Compass Move Team, Newcomers Team etc. and will help develop, launch and support future teams.

  • Staff liaison with regional partners.

  • Work with staff team and site ministry teams to plan and executive local outreach initiatives.

  • Provide support for Compass wide community events and initiatives such as festivals, parades, etc.

Musical ability and service leading/planning experience is an asset but not required.

Building & Property Coordinator

20 hours per week

The Building & Property Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the ministry of Compass Community Church and to work effectively with staff and volunteers to ensure the readiness of the Orangeville site church building and grounds for weekend, mid-week, and special event programming. This includes the set up and take down of all tables and chairs in ministry room locations. The Building & Property Coordinator with the support of volunteer teams, plays a key role in supporting the various ministry of the church as well as being the first line of contact for contractors and vendors who are completing jobs and projects within the building. This position reports to the Director of Administrative Operations. 

  • Provide overall leadership for the building and property of the Orangeville site. 

  • Implement the set up and take down of tables and chairs for all ministry and rental programs to ensure the smooth transition between weekly internal ministry and external bookings. 

  • Oversee scheduling for staff members and volunteers involved in custodial and maintenance activities. 

  • Oversight and management in the areas of maintenance, custodial, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, grounds keeping, security & emergency response for Compass. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee maintenance and repairs on the building and property, working with outside vendors to facilitate installs and repairs.   

  • Ensure all fire prevention and first aid equipment is checked regularly and complies with safety standards.  

  • Oversee, recruit, and develop the volunteer teams including: custodial and maintenance staff, chair team, seasonal workers and building and property volunteers.  

  • Assist in the maintenance of essential records pertaining to vendors, equipment, materials, supplies, project status, staff/volunteer training, regulations and on-site safety data sheets.

Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator will take a leadership role in meeting the communications and marketing needs of Compass and its associated sites and ministries. They will provide oversight and management of the Compass Communications strategy, practices, and policies church-wide, to create an environment in which information can be communicated clearly and creatively both internally and externally. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing all graphic design for print and digital applications, social media and website management, and content for weekly newsletters, emails, and internal applications. Experience in photography, media and production is an asset. This high capacity and forward-thinking leader will become part of our staff team reporting to the Director of Worship and Creative Arts and is a member of the creative team. This is currently a 40 hour per week position. 

40 hours per week

  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to use communications to reach others. 

  • Ensure all developed communications materials promote and adhere to the vision, core values, and visual branding of Compass. 

  • Ensure all communications support a multisite context. 

  • Work collaboratively as part of the Creative Team. 

  • Champion the assigned ministry/function areas across Compass, collaborating with other staff and ministry leaders. 

  • Ensure all media and communications requested are completed and delivered with a standard of excellence and branding guidelines in mind. 

COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Invest in the ongoing training of processes, policies, software, and internal administrative systems which are seen as foundational to the successful leadership of any staff team member. 

  • Attend all monthly staff meetings and other meetings as needed. 

  • Maintain organization of Creative Team files on SharePoint, Microsoft Teams. Manage creative projects in Microsoft Planner. 

  • Model and champion, all eight staff values. (Take Initiative, Keep Communicating, Get Creative, Maximize Strategy, Be Teachable, Leverage Teamwork, Choose Trust, Pursue a Sustainable Pace) 

  • Develop, communicate and implement a social media strategy, in collaboration with ministry staff and the creative team. 

  • Train and guide staff to submit communication requests and details in a timely manner. 

  • Develop and maintain a social media calendar, organize and schedule weekly posts. 

  • Recruit, and develop teams of photographers, graphic designers, writers, and other creatives in using their gifts to serve the church. 

  • Maintain and expand the brand kit of Compass as trends shift. 

  • Support the Media and Production Coordinator and Director of Worship and Creative Arts, as needed for Sunday gatherings and our online service. 

  • Collaborate with ministry leaders on Church Center management and communication where events and registrations are promoted. 

  • Act as the lead for public relations at Compass in partnership with the leadership team. 

  • Maintain and implement a church-wide communications calendar in partnership with creative and administrative teams. 

  • Serve as lead for graphic and print design, as well as marketing, including, but not limited to: website and website management, creation and management of social media content, signage, posters, promotional cards and products, informational cards and resources for all ministry programs and church-wide communications at Compass. 

  • Proofread with attention to detail. 

  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to develop and shape a variety of high-quality content for web, print, social media, email with internal and marketing applications. Produce and distribute regular communications including the Sunday Talking Points, Compass News email and all special digital communication. 

  • Champion all social media platforms to ensure a greater online presence and engagement. (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, coaching and scheduling of all communications volunteers and staff, providing resources, cultivating, and encouraging a creative community for those serving in Communications at Compass. 

  • Assist Creative Team with set design as necessary. 

  • Ensure all content adheres to copyright laws.

  • Responsible for innovation and creation of Creative Team goals, strategy and timely completion of projects. 

  • Attend all Creative Team meetings. 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Photograph or arrange for photography for various church events for use in worship, media productions, and communications.

    • Recruiting and developing a volunteer photography team alongside the Director of Worship & Creative Arts. 

    • Responsible to maintain an archive of all photography and images.

Finance Coordinator

The Finance Coordinator will take a leadership role in supporting the ministry of Compass Community Church working effectively with the staff and volunteers to manage accounting and financial activities within the organization. The Finance Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the various ministries of the church. This forward-thinking leader will become part of our staff team reporting to the Lead Pastor. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, takes initiative, is flexible, strategic and trustworthy. This is currently an 8 hour per week position with openness to on-site and remote work.

8 hours per week

  • Manage accounting and financial activities to ensure the organization complies with internal policies and external legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide direction and leadership that safeguards the assets and financial viability of the organization.

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to explain financial concepts to individuals at all levels.

  • Lead and supervise accounting roles, including bookkeeping, gifts and receipts, and tellers to ensure tasks are completed in compliance with internal controls.

  • Work with Ministry Directors to establish annual operating and capital budgets.

  • Collect and analyze actual results vs. budget for assessing financial performance and risks.

  • Prepare regular financial reports for the Board, staff, donors and members.

  • Protect the organization by maintaining compliance with regulatory authorities, including the CRA, Federal and Provincial governments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement finance strategies, policies, and processes.

  • Oversee gift and payment collection systems and processes, including collection, recording, reconciling with accounting, and issuing receipts.

  • Oversee the payroll function, ensuring compliance with regulations, including the CRA and ESA.

  • Oversee the payables function to ensure all bills are recorded correctly and paid in a timely manner.

  • Manage credit cards and the recording of these transactions.

  • Manage banking systems and relationship with bank, including updating agreements and complying with bank agreements, including loans and covenants.

  • Coordinating with external auditors to ensure annual audit files are prepared and audit questions are answered to prepare financial statements for distributing prior to AGMs.
