Vancouver 2026 Day Six
By: Matthew
Grand Rising Compass Community Church family! Today was the teams second full day on the island of Salt Spring in BC. Now on the Island serving a missionary and Jesus’ ministry He has blessed him with, the team is getting into the routine of morning serving, lunch, and then afternoon serving. Dinner is back at home base at the church we are staying at where we then do debrief, devotionals and a debrief with the missionary as well.
First, I want to thank you all, for all the prayers, and willingness to allow God to work through you as you have had already and continue to support and bless my team members and God’s children. We are praying for all of you back home, and please take a moment to PRAISE the LORD! God is so good, and He continues to bless the team. God has and continues to keep us safe, and He is overpouring His Spirit and love into us to help us serve others. Pray alongside us as we continue to trust in His word and have total faith God can and will speak through this team and the missionary for His kingdom and for His lost children who are unknowingly longing for Him but not reading the Bible and attending a church. Please pray as we also have opportunities to serve a few people from last year again and continue to share why we are here, which is to show the real love of Jesus.
Today the team was separated in half for the morning, where three of us went down to one of the lakes on the island and helped some very elderly people (96-year-old working man). This man is very hard working but getting increasingly limited with age. We were able to help remove a lot of gravel / rocks for him and his family to be able to make a deck for more family time. We prayed before going in, and wow how God was present in us while working. The first task was completed perfectly and relatively fast, therefore we got to serve them with other needs like moving huge logs of wood up the property and even help dig dirt so the 96-year-old can continue with his beautiful garden. The other half of the team in the morning was able to serve another elderly couple with their property. They also served in practical ways like raking a whole field of dry grass which was greatly appreciated as many elderly people on the Island can no longer fully take care for their property.
After coming back for a quick lunch and turn around, the team split off into pairs and served in different ways this afternoon. Wade and Charlotte were able to continue with more raking but this time a whole driveway to make it safer and clearer. During this, Abby and Tymon dropped off Sathya and myself to a young ladies house to help dig out landscape fabric that was nailed and stapled to the ground from previous owners. This was physically demanding but we were even more blessed to have the young lady open to be prayed over. After Sathya and I prayed she thanked us and also mentioned; “Wow thank you so much, I have never had anyone pray for me before”. This broke my heart because God listens to prayer, and she has never talked to Jesus. Take a moment and pray for these people on the island who are longing for Jesus but don’t even know it so they find other things to shortly fill that longing. After dropping us off, Abby and Tymon were with a very sweet lady helping shovel and spread dirt all around and also into her gardens as the property had just been torn up for a septic tank that was just put in.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support. We pray you all have a great rest of your day and week.
Best Regards & God Bless.
