Vancouver 2026 Day Seven
By: Tymon
I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! The team is doing an amazing job and we’ve all found our rhythm. The team is working so well together and are all stepping up in their own unique ways. Charlotte has been at the forefront for putting together most of our meals. Matt has been on top of cleaning all the dishes and running all the dishwasher loads. Sathya and Wade have been practicing lots for the worship on Sunday. And Abby jumps in wherever and whenever help is needed. Of course, everyone has been helping with everything and it would take too long to list all the ways each person is contributing, but the team is like a well oiled machine.
In the morning we all went to the Brinkworthy community in pairs (which is a seniors community). Wade and I served this lovely lady from England where we helped clean up her property and sheds. At one point Wade jumped from a spider to which she called him a big chicken. From there the banter only continued as she would give me a job to do and then would call muscles (aka Wade) to go help her with another job. She loved the banter and even gave us some homemade soup towards the end! Abby and Charlotte were helping across the street and helped cut back some plants and pull some weeds and then sat outside with a cup of tea in the sunshine watching Wade and I work from across the road. Matt and Sathya got the tough job that morning digging holes under or near trees to plant flowers, so therefore they were constantly digging into the roots and having to either cut them or work around them. At the end we all met at Matt and Sathya’s location to help and ended up praying over the lady who lived there. She said it was the first time someone has ever prayed for her and was moved by the experience, which is now the second person we’ve come across on the island who has never been prayed over before.
In the afternoon, Matt, Abby and Wade went to someone’s house that Matt and Abby had been at last year. She’s going through a tough time as her neighbours paved over her well last year and now she has no access to water, and now things are going to court and she’s apparently just in the slumps and really going through it. The team prayed for her and we’ve bought a card to bring her on Saturday just to wish her the best and to let her know she’s not alone and that people are thinking and praying for her. Charlotte, Sathya and I went to a younger couples property to split logs and stack the wood as they just had multiple dead trees cut down. They said they were Christians too after discovering where we were coming from and what we were doing this week, which then opened up a lot of conversations just about life and experiences and what not. They were extremely appreciative, offered us lots of snacks, and we had a blast while doing it!
Once the evening rolled around, Charlotte and Sathya put together an incredible chili, while I worked on uploading all the new pictures we took and got the previous two blogs up. While this was happening, the other three helped run games for the youth program that happens at the Community Gospel Church.
The trip has flown by and we are sad that it’s coming to an end, but we can’t wait to see everyone back at home and to tell them all about this experience!
