Vancouver 2026 Day Eight

By: Sathya

Hey hey! It’s Friday! Yay! I hope everyone is looking forward to the long weekend! Thank you
so much for all of your prayers for the team and people we’re serving :) We’re so blessed to be
able to be a part of God’s works in BC and have such awesome support from our church family.
Today was our last full day of work on the island!

We started off with a quick breakfast before heading to our spots for the morning. Wade, Matt, and I went to the food bank to clean the outside walls. It was a chill job, chatting and playing music 🎶 We also had time to clean Grant’s truck 🛻 Tymon, Charlotte, and Abby went over to an older woman’s house to clean the outside of the windows and do some gardening. Charlotte had an unfortunate mishap—her foot went through the deck! But don’t worry, she is alive and well to tell the tale. The woman that they were helping out was dealing with some heavy grief this morning. The team was able to encourage her and she asked to hold hands and be prayed for. It’s awesome to see how God is working to bring her hope and peace.

After finishing up, Wade, Matt and I hit up the grocery store for snacks and then took a peek at one of the thrift stores in the area. We all met back at the church for lunch, mostly left over chili cooked
by Charlotte, the OG chef. We headed out for more work after lunch. Abby and I went to an older woman’s house that Abby had seen on the trip last year and asked to help her out again. She was super sweet and told lots of stories. We sorted and counted over 1000 pop cans for her to give back for 10¢ a can. She asked to hold hands and pray before we left. It’s so encouraging to see God speaking to people’s hearts to bring them closer to Him. Tymon and Matt went over to an older man’s house, who had been kind to pick us up from the ferry on Monday. He doesn’t usually like receiving help, but Tymon and Matt were able to get lots of stuff done for him. Charlotte and Wade went to an older woman’s house and did some weeding and drank some hot chocolate and chatted with her.

Most of us finished early today, so Tymon and Matt picked up Abby and I, and we all went to the
grocery store for water jugs and bread. We then went to another thrift store. I scored and got a
pair of boots for $20 that look brand new and usually sell for $200! We all went back to the church. Matt and I tried to start lasagna for dinner but got a little confused so Charlotte stepped in to fix it. Everyone chilled while it was cooking, and Wade and I practiced worship for church this Sunday. We all had dinner, caught up with Olivia Allen over FaceTime, and practiced more worship. And now, we’re all playing monopoly with our favourite missionary Grant :)

That’s all for now!
