Vancouver 2026 Day One

By: Wade

Today at around 5:15am the team of 6 set off for the airport to make our 8:15am flight! We arrived at the airport, and after a couple boarding pass printer malfunctions, we finally made it through security with no delays and boarded our flight on the way to Vancouver. While some slept on the flight, others tried to annoy Tymon with paper airplanes and gum wrappers… rumor has it he still has no idea who threw it and also can’t tell if these are Junior High students or Young Adults that he’s brought to Vancouver… We landed and got some food, so Matt was finally able to get the Timbits he needed! We hopped on a train…. And then on our long journey heading to the Salvation Army accommodation that would be hosting us for the next couple days. After 39 bus stops, we finally arrived at the accommodation with everyone still accounted for (it is only day one though...)!! Shortly after we grabbed some grub for the next few days at the small local grocery stores called Walmart and Costco, and later we ate the incredible Costco pizzas and  salad we acquired and ate dinner with the hospitable host Sharon!

After dinner we made sure to spend some time in devos together. We talked about making sure to rest during these busy days, and not having the mindset of go, go, go but making sure to notice opportunities where we can have good conversations with the people of Vancouver and Salt Spring Island. We followed that up with some personal time to pray with God and set our minds on Him while we are here.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Potters Place to help serve with cooking meals for their services or helping with some smaller Jobs! Stay tuned for more!!
