Vancouver 2026 Day Four
By: Charlotte
Today was another travel day. We started off the morning with some breakfast and coffee (made cowboy style), then quickly packed up all of our stuff to catch the first of 3 busses and 1 train we needed to get to the ferry port…and almost missed it. Thankfully the driver saw us running with all our bags and waited, so it was a successful, albeit long, journey to catch our ferry.
Our ferry ride took about three hours and as eager as we all were to reconnect with Grant (our favourite missionary on Salt Spring Island), it gave us a chance to eat some lunch and take in all of the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, we did not see any whales, but we did see some sea lions and seals, which was still pretty cool!
Once we arrived on Salt Spring, we were greeted by Grant and Dean who drove us to the church that we will be staying at for the week. We caught Grant up with all the tea and shared some memories from our trip last year! Grant took off to have lunch with a friend and left us to settle in. Once we all set up our air mattresses and sleeping bags, all six of us packed into one of the trucks to pick up groceries for the week.
After putting away all the groceries, we took some time to rest after lots of travelling and to prepare for the week to come. Dinner tonight was stir fry – using some leftover Costco rotisserie chicken. Head chef Wade did a great job and we were well nourished.
Grant came back after dinner and I went with him to pick up the second truck that we will be using for the week. Then we sat with him in the comfy couch room and heard about how God has really been moving on the island and in the community. We are all so excited to see what God will do through us and alongside us this week and pray that He will lead our conversations and cover us.
Until next time.
