Vancouver 2025 Day Two

By: Randy

First full day in Vancouver! The group was eager to get to Potters Place to worship God and serve the community. As a group, we were very humbled by what we saw the night before. Understanding that it is a privilege to serve these people who live this reality every day.

While some of the group was stuck in the kitchen preparing the meals we were going to serve; Matt preached a sermon about baptism and how it symbolizes the gospel. Personally, I was peeling potatoes, but I heard he had done an incredible job. It was awesome to work with the people at Potters Place understanding how hard they work everyday to serve God and in direct correlation, the community. We as a group were fortunate enough to get a taste of the community by walking the streets serving the people lunch and hot tea. We are so blessed to pray over these people and allow them to hear our prayers. We had our fingers crossed the people of East Hastings would be compelled to venture into Potters Place for the evening service.

Us young adults made our way back to YWAM for some much needed debrief, prayer and rest, then had left overs to nourish our bodies to prepare for another evening at Potters Place. Eric led the worship shredding the guitar and lead vocals while Kathryn and Abby were the back up singers. Wade made his debut on the drums as he figured it was not far from the cajon, and Jacob was killing it on the keys. Evening service went as well as it could. Olivia took over for evening sermon and made the connection that the woman who bled suffered for many years and was healed through her strong faith. Making the very important point that the Hebrew translation for the wings were exactly what talit

We were super blessed to not only serve dinner to the Potters Place crowd but to sit and eat along side them. Such a humbling experience to get to know these people on a personal level and to pray with/for them individually. The evening was finished with a deep clean of the sanctuary and reorganization of the pantry. Potters Place was very grateful for our help, but the pleasure is truly ours. A quick bus ride back to YWAM granted us time for snacks and prayer. Giving us the opportunity to have an early bedtime of midnight.
