Vancouver 2025 Day One
By: Kathryn, Tymon, Eric
Hello from Vancouver! We started off bright and early… jk it was still very dark. We ripped down the 410 to jump on a jet, take off at 7am for a five hour flight only to land at 9am in Vancouver, where we bumped into Ken and Barb Derksen which was awesome! Then we continued our travels via train, to a bus, to another bus, to a hike uphill both ways where we finally landed at the YWAM guest house, and yes we were all accounted for. After we settled in, half of us went for another 20 minute hike to get groceries, while the other half stayed back to prep for tomorrow, and then the grocery group of course had to hike back uphill both ways with all the groceries because Tymon said the bus will only save us 3 minutes. Before dinner, we had our first devos which was about vocation and looking at different prayers we will be praying throughout the week. After dinner we made our way to East Hastings to walk around and pray, which is where Potters Place is located. Potters Place is a street church that provides free meals and worship services for all those who wish to enter. The prayer walk we did opened the teams eyes to the reality of the work we will be doing this weekend. We are eager to witness God’s strength through us in a very dark place knowing that Jesus is the light within us. We attended the Friday night worship service at Potters Place before heading back for the night to debrief and go over our plans for the upcoming days.
PS. Remember that we have been up for 22hrs so please enjoy our delusional humour, but in all seriousness, we appreciate all the prayers and ask you continue to pray for God’s strength and provision. We really have been blessed with an incredible experience so far and are beyond grateful to be a part of this.
In the words of Eric Gordon “sure whatever man, just submit it. It’s gotta be an A-”.
