Vancouver 2025 Day Three

By: Wade

We started today by doing our own church service at the YWAM house. We had time to worship together and some of us were able to share our testimonies. Sharing our testimonies with each other helped to understand the different walks of life we have come from and helped us understand that we are all broken people who need Jesus just as much as the people we serve with as well as the people we serve.

After our church service we ate some lunch together with some of the people who lived at the YWAM house before we headed out to downtown Vancouver. We were going to the wealthier section of Vancouver to see the contrast of where we were yesterday and the more privileged part of downtown, which was just streets away from where we served yesterday.  We took time to walk around and just pray for the different parts of Vancouver, to bless those communities.

After stopping for some dinner we headed back to Potters Place, to help set up for the evening service and some other small jobs but we also began repainting the ceiling, and some of the walls. We were given the huge task of repainting the entire ceiling of the kitchen as well as parts of the sanctuary. We weren’t sure we’d be able to do all this in the 5 hours we were there but Randy carried the team with his superior ladder skills and painted the kitchen ceiling. While Randy and I stayed in the kitchen to paint, Jacob, Eric, Matt and Charlotte led worship and Abby gave a great sermon on the Prodigal son to those who attended our evening service.

We then had the incredible opportunity to be able to serve food and sit and chat with some underprivileged people who were seeking God or had come for a warm meal. We were able to chat, learn more about them and just be a listening ear for them as most need someone they can open up too. Then we cleaned up Potters Place preparing it for tomorrows services and had to say our goodbyes to the wonderful volunteers and staff as tomorrow we will be heading to Salt Spring Island to help with that community as well! Serving at Potters Place has been such an amazing experience and opened the eyes of many of us to the hurt and suffering that happen in our very own country. But we were given this opportunity to be able to help this incredible church and give some of their staff the encouragements that what they are doing is Gods work. We then travelled back had a debrief of the day before we all went to bed. Till next time!
