Vancouver 2025 Day Four

By: Matt

Our 2nd full day at Potters Place, but our last day here on Vancouver. We were gladly received by YWAM, hosted my Nelly & her father Mike, who were hosts sent from God. They didn’t just help us at every opportunity they could but also prayed for us every time we saw them. Leaving our first part of this mission trip was hard, so much God has done, is doing, and continuing to do in and threw Potters Place. It was a blessing to be able to support our brothers and sisters in our home country, serving our current lost brothers and sisters who we pray will find Jesus, & that His will be done for His kingdom.

After lugging all our stuff to the first bus stop, we filled the bus to the max. Then we went on the sky train, which lead to another bus. That bus we actually had to wait almost an hour for. The line was getting really busy really fast and we were at a point in the line where it was a corner. We got to meet a new brother in Christ who was right beside us in the line (technically behind but the way the queue lines were set up it was beside). Our new brother in Christ got to share his testimony with us, share that bus ride we were all waiting for and a meal with us on our first ferry! Our new friend had left after the ferry to go visit his Friends, as our team continued our journey of a travel day to our second ferry.

Just 3 days into our trip the team is already seeing God working! God is working threw these ministries and the fact that the team is going to the light in the darkness to help it shine brighter. Serving the community but also serving the ministries. Although it was a day of travel it was also a day of prayer, praying for Nelly and her family coming to Canada, praising God for the goodness he has, is, and will be doing, and praying over our next serving opportunity with Community Gospel Chapel.

We landed on Salt Spring Island, and wow it was beautiful! We met Grant who we have been communicating with for the last couple months, and his team of drivers Dean & Pastor Dustin. Each driver was telling us their own stories and answering all our questions about the island on our way to the church. The church is beautiful inside & out! The team settled in and did a grocery haul afterwards. Tonight we made tacos & nachos for dinner and sat in our funky arranged seating. We prayed Dominican style (all holding hands), and had a beautiful meal together prepped by Kathryn & Wade. After dinner, Grant had come back to share the plans for the next couple days!

Stay tuned for what God has in store! Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Myself & the team are so excited for what God has in store next for the rest of this mission experience. We may not be baptizing people but it’s beautiful getting to share the gospel with all nations and tongues with now young adults who were growing and striving in our youth ministry at Compass not long ago. Now I’ll leave you with the same blessing from 2 Peter 3:18 that I had left Saturday morning at Potters Place which says “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glorify both now and forever amen”.
