Dominican Republic 2026 Day Five

Hola Madres, Padres and Amigos. Today was another early morning, where we woke up to that rooster once again (literally). We started with devos on gratitude which then led to us going off and writing letters to people we are grateful for and diving into scripture. After that we got ready and came down for a delicious breakfast which was scrambled eggs with ham, fruit (the best part of Taryn’s day), toast and some scrumdiliumtious juice. After scarfin’ it down we got on the bus for our second day of being blue collared baddies.

On the bus we played Pharisees and had lots of fun. Once we got to the site, one group started working on making posts out of rebar and the other group started to lay bricks (Taryn almost saw red). After working and sweating for approximately two hours we got back on the bus and came back for lunch, we listened to music and Ashton’s (Handsome/Harrison) diabolical stories once again (what a funny guy). For lunch we had sausage, rice, salad and fruit. Then we had a bit of a break and went swimming (Lucy was so scared about getting burnt) #lepercahun.

After swimming we got ready (Lucy wore her famous Josh Allen T-Shirt, thank you Gramma) and went back to the site to finish up what we had started in the morning, accept for one group who started mixing concrete for the bricks. It started raining and getting windy, which was nice because it cooled it off a lot. When we were packing up some of the group was playing with the local children, and it was really nice seeing everyone having fun and working hard. After approximately 3 hours of work, we came back to the compound for dinner. On the bus we were jamming out to tunes. Once we got back, we had time to wash up and then have dinner. For dinner we had beef with baked potatoes and empanadas and obviously more delicious fruit and salad.

After dinner we did devos on the roof which was based on the story “A Coffee and A Hug” (we all know lucy jumped when she heard coffee) #addict. During devos Lucy braided Ashton’s hair and did an amazing job. After devos we went into prayer partners. We talked and prayed for each other and another person on the team; it was a great way to connect. Once devos were done we went swimming, and that brings us to now (writing the blog) #tarynshavingFOMO. We miss you all so much and we will see you soon. We are so grateful for your prayers and support.
