Welcome to Friday!

Today we started off our morning with a beautiful view from the roof. While we were up there Jen led us through our first devotion. We talked and reflected about how we can use gentleness towards others (and ourselves) while on this journey. After we ate breakfast, we left for Villa Altagracia and were given a tour of the water treatment facility built by past teams. We then started on our first project building a medical center for the community. Some jobs that we did include concrete mixing and pouring, tying rebar, and moving bricks for a wall in the medical center.

After we worked on the project for 3 hours we headed back to the lighthouse for lunch.

For lunch we all tried new foods such as plantains and surprisingly mangos because some people have never had one before.

After the delicious lunch we headed back to Villa Alta Grecia to continue our project. During this time, we continued with the jobs we started earlier. We also were able to interact with some kids from the community. Brad and Wade got the opportunity to interact with some kids that were hanging around the jobsite and they were able give some of the kids a baseball which they were happy to receive. Getting to interact with people from a different community and culture was eye-opening.

We then finished up the last few jobs and headed back to the lighthouse. After dinner we had a of worship and debrief of the day. This included discussing things we enjoyed or were challenged by. We finished the day with free time for team bonding.

See y’all tomorrow

Ps. We also figured out that coconuts kill more people than sharks (Reuben didn’t believe this)
