Dominican Republic 2025 Day Five

Hey guys, Nick, Tymon, and Jacob here… your favourite boy band! Today was another amazing opportunity to see God at work in Villa Altagracia. We started our day reflecting on gratitude and seeing how when we recognize God’s blessings, it can make such a big impact on our life. After devos and breakfast, we headed straight out to the village and got back to constructing a part of the wall for the baseball diamond. We saw some kids practicing and we can now confirm that none of us are really all that good at baseball and we need to start a new career. It was cool to see how after only one day building walls, we are all a whole lot better… but that being said most (not Tymon’s group today 😉) of us had to reset the same brick again. Through this though, you can really tell how much passion they have to care for this community as they are patient with us being the 25th team of the year for them and still taking the time to lovingly show and correct us when we make a mistake.

For lunch we had the ladies from the kitchen come to the village with chicken pasta, coke, oreo’s, and banana’s. After story time with Olivia A, which is always exhilarating and concerning, we walked down the street with wheel barrows to get cinder blocks to continue building the wall. Eventually, a couple of the students were helping Felix seal the top of a wall and Gabe ended up at the top with Felix and shared how he was taken back in awe of how God was working through the team as he was looking down on us from a distance. The kids from the previous day came over again and were excited to see us and dance with us again.

Olivia A. shared later in devos a story that Felix had told her before. Felix had explained to her how God always provides for the Lighthouse and how when one team can no longer come, God always provides another team. It’s so obvious how God is providing for the Lighthouse and using them to share the Gospel through supporting and meeting the needs of the community.
