Retreat in Daily Life 2026
We are so looking forward to journeying together on retreat with God through prayer, scripture and reflection, in the midst of the routine of daily life. Our hope for the retreat is that people will see how the two are interwoven and God is present, active and speaking in all of it. It is a gift to yourself and to God as you set aside time to be with the Lord. We are excited and expectant for what God will do.
What to Expect
Our opening session is on Sunday, February 1 at 2pm and our closing session is on Saturday, February 7 at 10am. We will be meeting in the North Venue of our Orangeville site which can be accessed by using the office entry doors. For your one-on-one spiritual direction sessions there are three designated meeting spaces. You may also request these areas of the church for your own private prayer time and for doing the daily exercises. For those meeting online for spiritual direction during the week, you will arrange those times your Director during our Sunday afternoon gathering, or by email. We will get you connected as soon as possible after registration closes. Those joining us online are asked to arrange with their Director which app they are most comfortable using to meet (Facetime, Zoom, Messenger, Google Meets, Teams, etc.)

The goal of this session is to meet one another, set the tone for the week, introduce the first exercise, give some guidance and instruction, practice a group direction exercise, and schedule the daily direction sessions for the week. We intentionally begin and end the week as a community of prayer. We will begin all together in a large group, but then will transition to smaller groups with each Director and their directees for the week. Each directee will be given a candle and their first spiritual exercise. You can use this time to further introduce yourself, talk through the flow of the week and finalize your direction times and locations. Our hope is that you are able to attend the opening session in-person, as it sets a tone and direction for the week, this includes those who will be meeting online during the week.
-
The goal of this session is to sum up, reflect on, and give thanks for the experience of the week. There will be a time of worship and singing. You will also receive help in determining your next steps if you wish to continue on with spiritual direction. There will be some suggestions of shared resources that are available for living a reflective life of prayer. We will finish our time receiving communion together. Please once again plan to attend this important time.
For both of our group session gatherings we will be meeting in the North Venue of our Orangeville site which can be accessed by using the office entry doors.

Each day you will complete a spiritual exercise on your own at home or at the church. You will then come to the church to a designated area or join your Director online to receive spiritual direction for 30-45 minutes. This will happen each day, Monday through Friday. You might meet at the same time each day, or you may need to adjust your meeting time based on your schedule.
Daily Exercises
Each day’s spiritual exercise should be completed on your own at home or at the church. Then you will come to the church to a designated area or join your Director online to receive spiritual direction.
