Day 6 - DR Team Update
“If one part (of our team) hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.” This verse from 1 Corinthians 12:26 jumped off the page for our team as it has been our desire that out of diversity we would be united. Fortunately, the team has remained healthy throughout the week. However, Hannah was under the weather for a short time earlier in the week and it was encouraging to see the concern and prayers of the team on her behalf. Tonight our team discussed their spiritual gifting and how they can serve one another by using these gifts in community.
The daily morning devotional time on the roof set the tone for each day. It was particularly encouraging to see the guys, of their own initiative, meet together afterwards to discuss the passages of scripture and questions from the devo. Each evening we reviewed the morning devotional together and shared memorable moments from the day. Listening to the students pray was inspiring. They not only prayed for one another, they also prayed that the lessons they were learning about their relationship with God would impact their lives for the long-term after they returned home.
After a busy week of construction and outreach, we had the amazing opportunity today to see some of the natural wonders of the Dominican Republic. After a strenuous trek down the mountain, we swam at the base of a stunning waterfall. It was another opportunity for friendships to deepen as we enjoyed this incredible display of God’s handiwork.
It’s hard to believe we head home tomorrow. We all have many wonderful memories to share and look forward to doing just that in the near future. As the leaders of this team, it has been our pleasure getting to know this fun group of students. Thank you for your prayers. See you Friday night!
